Dorothy’s work in Mayor Villaraigosa’s Office of Economic and Business Policy has greatly benefited minority owned small businesses and the entire Los Angeles community.

The 2011 Minority Small Business Champion – Mr. Richard “Dick” Inukai, President of Dick’s Auto Sales & Leasing. The Minority Small Business Champion award acknowledges individuals who have fulfilled a commitment to support minority entrepreneurship. In addition to being a highly successful business man, Mr. Inukai has dedicated his life to inspiring and enabling people in his community to reach their full potential. He is an advocate for many in his community, especially minority small business owners. He guides and teaches minority dealers the tools for success. Along with the Ford Minority Dealer Board, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, Dick has worked with over 200 minority dealers (primarily African American and Hispanic) to further their efforts for success in their dealerships. He has also taken an active role in assisting Japanese business owners. Mr. Dick Inukai shares his thoughts with us.
